LFW ASHISH SS15: HARRY UZOKA

The last day of London Fashion week went out with a bang! The Ashish show was all sparkles, sequins & tinsel, however the collection was still wearable for the everyday guy or gal!. For spring Ashish brought glamour into day to day outfits such as tracksuits, baggy pants, jeans & bomber jackets. The vibe was street & comfort, collaborating both these looks together with a sprinkle of 70′s created a cool overall urban look. The 70′s fringe details on many of the looks reflected the main vibe of LFW SS15. The most magical moment of the show had to be our amazing Harry Uzoka  opening the show strutting down the runway with that bod on show had the whole audience in a gaze.

A Moment with Burberry Show Opener Malaika Firth

Malaika Firth Opens Burberry Prorsum SS15: malaika 2

Vogue.com caught up with our beautiful Malaika Firth backstage before her grand opening of the Burberry Prorsum SS15 show, read the interview below:

Preshow outside the Burberry Prorsum tent today on a sunny, bright London afternoon, Suki Waterhouse is sitting in a bathrobe, wearing a crushed-rose lip stain and her signature shaggy bangs while chatting with a friend. Nearby, Sam Rollinson is taking a phone call, her bobbed hair in loose waves—a rather glamorous iteration of festival hair, destined to be seen, perhaps, at next summer’s Glastonbury Festival. All this outdoor activity on the part of the fashion house’s loyal troupe of British models is apt, considering the show’s theme—“the birds and the bees”—and the winged creatures of the English countryside that are its inspiration.

Inside, however, things are building to a fever pitch as the minutes tick down to showtime. There, in the midst of the swirl, Wendy Rowe is demonstrating the show’s makeup on Burberry Prorsum‘s campaign girl and freshest new face, Malaika Firth. It’s “smooth honey skin, with a wash of tawny eye shadow,” says Rowe of the look she’s creating. “We don’t want it to look like makeup, so where you would normally get a shadow around your eye, that’s where we’re adding the shade.” The effect is glossy, gorgeous, sun-kissed—and while the company’s radiance-boosting Luminous Fluid Base (in Golden Radiance) and Fresh Glow Foundation are no doubt partially responsible for Firth’s glowing skin, she doesn’t exactly need much help.

“Watch this girl—she’s major!” says Rowe, who is patting exactly the right amount of the company’s bright Ruby lipstick onto Firth’s lips to create the impression that she has been snacking on hedgerow raspberries. The Kenyan-born, London-bred model has just been tapped to open the house’s spring 2015 show, and if she is nervous, there is no evidence of it. Having worked for the brand for three years, Firth is—naturally—a Burberry fan. “I love the trench coat,” she says. “I like that it’s an English brand, and I’m from London, so I’m very proud to be opening the show.” The swag’s not bad, either. “The poncho was amazing. It has my initials on it, which is so, so cool,” she says of the monogrammed blanket capes that Burberry Prorsum debuted last season and that became an instant street style hit. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. I’ve walked so many shows,” she says, reflecting on the arrival of her opening moment. Is she anxious? “No. I’m excited,” she says with a laugh. “And I’m quite lucky, I’ve never had a catwalk mishap yet!”

RE-Boot

RE-Boot

In our day and age, where multitasking has become the norm, where we cannot be without our phones for just one day, where we are being bombarded with news, images and “likes” at any moment of the day, it has become increasingly important to acknowledge the fact that what this is and has become, does need a counter movement in order to keep our sanity.

I myself am guilty as charged on all the above, I get off on those little red dots that alarm me that someone out there has “liked” any of my, thousands by now, images on Instagram and Facebook. I am also obsessively checking the celebrity headlines of the Daily Mail, which in itself, I know, is a crime. cc5048691f1ee465ee03fe77450b2c92 Read More
